Executive producer Julie Plec is really happy with how Elena and Damon are handling the ‘universe’ trying to break them up. ‘I think the beautiful thing about Damon and Elena right now is in spite of what everyone is saying to them, whether it’s in the form of the universe or other people’s two cents about it, they’re like, ‘Hey, look, we know how we feel about each other and we’re going to stick to that. We’re not going to let some prophecy or whatever affect the way that we view our relationship,’ Plec says. ‘They’re going to have to fight pretty hard to keep that up, but they’re going to give it their best shot.’

Even before anything happened in our series, Elena had been touched in her soul by this man (Damon)

“It’s been a rough few years for Damon when it comes to his love life — but Julie tells us it’s finally time for him to have some legitimate joy in his life. “Yes. Absolutely,” she says. “We’re going to get to see Damon trying to be a good boyfriend, and while it’s not going to be easy, he’s going to try like hell to make it work, and they’re going to have a real opportunity for happiness.” [X]

I think we all deserve a nice cup of tea and a blanket to process the fact that Damon and Happiness could actually happen in our lifetimes.

“I believe that for the most part, love is about choices. It’s about putting down the poison and the dagger and making your own happy ending… most of the time. And sometimes, despite all your best choices and all your best intentions…
fate wins anyway.” Meredith Grey

So the spoiler about Julie changing her mind about the cure is true. That’s basically a confirmation for Damon imo since the hints started to be laid on thick around mid-season as well as had the 4x13 speech where he changed his mind on becoming human again.

Yes. Without a doubt. Without a doubt. It will revitalize the triangle for sure, and as far as the Elena and Damon information, I think what it will do is cement their relationship — or lack thereof — once she comes clean with a sense of at least semi-permanence, if not permanence. It won’t be a little more of, “Oh, I love you, but I have to stay away.” Or, “Oh, I hate you.” There will be something that feels, okay, we’re going to settle in this for a while. And good or bad, how is that going to go?

Seriously though. What the hell. You don’t have to kill a main fucking character to create a good storyline. And it’s especially not good if that’s you’re only go to option every finale. It’s getting old.

Spoiler alert: Damon dies before he turns human.

I will crawl into a hole and die if it’s Matt.

But about that Damon situation: Is Elena ever going to question the sire bond, or is she dead set that her love for Damon is the real deal? Plec answers, ‘In the midst of all of it, she’s still wondering, are these [true] feelings she’s feeling? They feel so real. What is going on with me?’
Julie Plec {x}
The sire bond doesn’t impact emotions, love or sex.

Bonnie: That was weird. When I touched you, I saw a crow.
Elena: What?
Bonnie: A crow. There was fog, a man. Elena, there’s no way I’m psychic. I know that. But whatever I saw, or I think I saw, I have this feeling…
Elena: Bonnie, what?
Bonnie: That it’s just the beginning.
